TAI Modern

Brochure Design

Project Brief:

Design a brochure for TAI Modern’s Asian Week New York exhibition.

Documentation:

This brochure was designed during TAI Modern’s first time participating in the Asia Week New York exhibition. As a result, the gallery needed a brochure that both introduced new visitors to Japanese bamboo art, and appropriately showcased the works for seasoned collectors.

The works exhibited were historical masterworks of the art form, photographed by Gary Mankus. An essay by historian Koichi Okada accompanied the works in the catalog. The design was made to be as minimalist as possible, to allow the artworks to speak for themselves. The layout of works was chosen based on many trials in finding the right contrasting relationships between each piece.
